Crazy driver in a high-tech EV with electric motors only inside the wheels races against electric and diesel cars and beats them – in reverse.
The converted-to-pure-electric BMW X6 has more than 6000 Nm (4425 lbf·ft) of direct-drive torque at the wheels and produces more than 440 kW (590 HP) of pure power.
The electric in-wheel drive features four innovative high-power gearless electric motors, one inside each wheel, and the EV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0–62 mph) in under 4.9 seconds at 2390 kg (~5300 lbs).
With an improved center of gravity and exceptional weight distribution, this huge SUV is able to reach 1.08 lateral g’s of acceleration during cornering, putting it alongside the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Porsche 911 GT3 RS and McLaren 650 S Spider.
